People often ask, "Why Biodynamic wine?" The answer is simple; it's in the bottle. When tasting Biodynamic wine you will notice more complex flavors, richer fruit, and an overall natural balance. Our move to Biodynamic Viticulture continues to improve the quality of our fruit and ultimately our wines as natural order returns and flourishes in our vineyards.
But there is more to it than deep flavors. Biodynamic wine is energized; it is alive with natural energy and elements that are not hindered by manmade chemical fertilizers and pesticides. You can feel good about what you are drinking because you will know that it lives without the aid of harmful chemicals. And Biodynamics, like organics, keeps those chemicals out of our environment - out of nature.
Lastly, and probably most importantly with our organic labeling laws currently being weakened, it is confusing for people to know if what they are buying is 100% organic or made from 100% organic fruit. Biodynamic wine, or foods in general, eliminates the confusion. If a product is certified Biodynamic you can rest assured that there are no manmade chemicals and that the product is made from 100% organic/Biodynamic content. For Cooper Mountain Vineyards, the new laws become increasingly challenging. All but one of our wines are required to be labeled as "Made from organic grapes." For us, the only difference between this and "Organic" is that we use sulfites as a preservative except the 2002 Certified Organic Pinot Noir. If you read the new content laws you will find that products labeled as "Made with organic..." are required to have only 70% of their content organic. Confusing isn't it? Again, rest assured that our wines are all made from 100% organic grapes. If you are unsure about other wines or foods we recommend that you contact the producer for clarification of their content. Remember, if something is labeled simply as "Organic" and/or carries the USDA seal, it must be 100% organic in content.
